There are many film programs for kids, but The Spec Spot is different. We don't promise whole films in three weeks. We don't feed your children meals. We don't play sports. We teach filmmaking. We lay a solid groundwork for kids ages 12-14 who are interested in learning the basics of digital video. No busy work. No wasted time.
The first day your kids show up they are introduced to a "client" that needs some spec spots ASAP. A spec spot is an industry term used to describe fake commercials an advertiser uses to sell their work. Working in groups of three and racing against the clock, your children cover all aspects of filmmaking, from scriptwriting to computer editing, as they try to meet their client's deadline.
The Spec Spot is a fun, fast-paced environment that will keep your kids on their toes the entire time. Students leave with a compilation DVD of all the spec spots. The films are also posted on the Internet to share with friends and family.
